Cusco & MP info

2002-08-13 17:55:35 by nephela

I was in cusco for over a month. There are plenty of cheap hostels in Cusco. In my opinion cheap and hot water are major priorities. I liked staying in San Blas area which is up the hill from the plaza de armes. I also lived in La Florida for some time.
Random info: Look up the cusco weekly online before you go. They also provide some basic info.
Taxi's are cheap 2 soles for in town....
Los Perros is one of the best bars I found. It's behind the plaza by the movie theater (there's only one).
I was in Cusco in June and July so this should all be fairly recent information for you. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Oh and in lima, stay at The Point hostel. They were the best beds I found in the 3 months of travel and a laid back atmosphere.

San Diego to San Fran-guide for travel virgins?

2007-03-26 20:48:46 by quidditian

My best friend of 16 years and I are both hermits. He lives in Florida, I've lived in San Diego for the past 6 years. Other than an annual vacation to see each other in our respective towns, neither of us goes more than a 20 mile radius outside our front door.
Last year, while I was visiting him in Florida, we had a Big Fake Wedding to commemorate our bond. Now we're going to take a Big Fa...and the Guggenheim if I can torment him with art overload (shhhhhhhhh...don't let him know it's on my list).
Also, once in San Fran, would like to stay in a nice B&B (preferably one purportedly haunted) in the Castro District...if not in Castro, at least somewhere central. If not in Castro and/or haunted, would still appreciate any recommendations. Central is still key.
Any thoughts?

  • Avatar lennon87 Does anyone know of cheap flights to anywhere in Florida? Or to New York?
Jun 25, 2008 by lennon87 | Posted in Air Travel

Florida destination would ideally be Miami, but this is flexible. Flying from UK, preferably Manchester, but not essential.

    • You can use Thomas Cook or other charters. You can fly from Manchester to Fort Lauderdale or Orlando. But if you want a better deal try going out of London with more flights. NYC would be cheaper from London.

Try going to consolidator websites and see if you can score a good deal as the prices of fuel are so expensive.

      Good luck!

  • Avatar tall model looking girl Would you drive 400 miles so the entire family can fly to Florida on one flight?

Our extended family all met in Florida over the long Christmas Holiday Weekend. The unoffical leader in the family insisted that everyone drive to one central city so each of us could be on one flight. So some of the exte …r /> When people complained that this was illogical and a waste of time, the family leader said that it was rude to expect everyone to fly in from different cities.

What is the polite and logical thing to do?

    • I would not drive 400 miles to pay a more expensive plane fare unless there was a much better reason than the one your 'leader' offered. If some disabled person needed my assistance, or I was needed for something else in … flight, that might be different. If the problem is a person in Orlando having to make several trips to the airport to pick people up from different flights...well, I'm sure Orlando has taxicabs, hotel shuttle buses, etc.
