Ben Friberg, a lover of the paddle board. Guitarist by profession, this young man from Chattanooga, Tennessee (USA), combines his two passions, playing guitar and practice paddle board, plus all navigable whitewater rivers state of Tennessee, and being the organizer of ChattaJack which proves 31.5 miles by river Gorge.
The adventure of crossing the difficult waters separating the island of Cuba and the Florida peninsula, between Puerto Hemingway and Key West is not easy. To which Ben Friberg has been prepared for nearly a year in order to deal with security 96 miles away.
The entire team gathered at the port of Key West to go on board the catamaran Sunluver from Key West to Puerto Hemingway, a journey of 17 hours on the boat motor that would later support Ben Friberg during the crossing paddle board.
28 hours in a board paddle board with Paddlesurf Riviera . was not the first time Ben Friberg faces a paddle board record. In 2012 established a record of achieve greater distance on a SUP paddle for 24 hours straight, reaching 238 miles on the Yukon River. So for the crossing Puerto Hemingway - Key West and it was clear.
The hardest thing for Ben Friberg was not the journey itself, but achieve the required permissions to perform this crossing between Cuba and Florida. An administrative year to achieve the desired permission for him not to take as a rafter.
The journey was performed normally until about 15 miles from Key West, where weather conditions began to worsen, with tropical storm threat, which delayed some were completing the voyage last August 2 after 28 hours and 6 minutes on 96 miles nautical.
